FFF's Apple Pie Oatmeal Bowl au naturale
1/4 cup old-fashioned oats*
1/4 cup steel-cut oats*1/4 cup old-fashioned oats*
1/2 cup chopped apple
1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon, more to taste
1 tsp Raven's Mulling Spices (optional)
1 cup vanilla rice (or almond) milk
*I used half old-fashioned and half steel-cut oats for a nice texture blend. You can use 1/2 cup of either old-fashioned or steel-cut if you prefer.
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan (coat with a little butter if it's not non-stick). and add 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 12-15 minutes (if you use steel-cut oats, it will be about 15-20 min), stirring frequently. Spoon into bowls, let thicken and enjoy!

This turned out really good. I am not normally a huge fan of oatmeal, but it was very filling and satisfied my sweet tooth without being overpoweringly sweet (and it made the kitchen smell FABULOUS!) I don't know how in the world HG gets that this recipe makes one serving. There was enough here for me and Munchkin with probably another whole serving left over! The nutritional stats are for 2 servings....double them if you plan on eating that much oatmeal by yourself. I'm a big eater, but I sure can't!
